Supporting Our First Responders
Ed has earned the endorsements of the St. Pete Firefighters and the Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association for his commitment to public safety and the preservation of our quality of life. As a Council Member, we can count on Ed to ensure our First Responders have the tools they need to keep our neighborhoods safe.
Protecting St. Petersburg's Waterfront Parks
One of the things which makes St. Petersburg such a desirable place to call home is our beautiful chain of waterfront parks. Protecting our waterfront and park properties for generations to come will always be a priority for Ed in City Hall.
Fighting Climate Change
The Integrated Sustainability Action Plan is a great start to combating the effects of Climate Change in St. Petersburg, but Ed knows that more work needs to be done to find science-based solutions to environmental concerns. On the City Council, Ed will coordinate with Florida's Chief Science Officer and Chief Resiliency Officer to address environmental threats to our city.
Preserving The Quality Of Our Neighborhoods
St. Petersburg is home to a vibrant community of neighborhoods which earn our city its reputation as a unique place to live, travel and do business. Ed knows this, and he is committed to strengthening CONA, assisting neighborhood associations, and continuing to provide resources to keep our neighborhoods strong.
Investing In Our Infrastructure
St. Petersburg residents and taxpayers deserve a quality infrastructure. There are roads, bridges, sidewalks, sewer and stormwater drains all over our city that need improvement, and Ed is working tirelessly to ensure our city infrastructure is repaired and maintained.
Increasing Economic Opportunity
Ed understands the importance of strengthening our local economy. This means recruiting employers that provide high wage jobs to our city and fighting to keep these jobs in St. Petersburg. To attract new businesses and grow existing businesses, Ed will address the economic fundamentals of a skilled workforce, housing, transportation and great public education.
Supporting Our LGBTQ Community
My votes for issues that support the LGBTQ community speak for themselves. I believe in the golden rule - to treat others how you want to be treated - and that means treating everyone with respect, fairness and compassion. I have marched in the Pride parade, and will continue to vote for issues that will strengthen the LGBTQ community. I think it’s important that we take on discrimination wherever we see it. That’s why I support laws banning discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in housing, employment and public accommodations, and I support training regarding sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in diversity training programs for public employees.
Investing In Midtown
We need to continue to make sure people living in Midtown have access to the same opportunities for education, healthcare and job advancement that everyone else in St. Petersburg has. Ed will build on the efforts that former Mayor Baker started by putting a grocery store back in Midtown and making efforts to revitalize their community.
Looking Toward The Future
Population growth, the future of the Tropicana Field site, transportation issues, workforce skills, land use and zoning, environmental concerns, all need to be studied with a vision of where we want to be as a community thirty to fifty years from now. Ed Montanari is committed to sustainable growth for our for city, not just short term improvement.
